In researching cheesecake dip, both homemade and store-bought, the calories range from 140-200 calories per ¼ cup serving. Our sweet dip is 44 calories per ¼ cup serving.
Recipe Ingredients Notes
For the complete ingredient list and amounts, refer to the printable recipe card at the end of the post.
Low fat cottage cheese. Using low fat (1% or 2%) cottage cheese gives this some cheesecake-like tang and lots of protein. The cottage cheese is blended to a smooth consistency before adding the other ingredients.
Sugar Free Cheesecake Pudding mix. You'll need two 1-ounce boxes of sugar free Cheesecake Pudding mix. Do not make the pudding; the dry mix is added to the other ingredients. This gives the cheesecake flavor but without loads of calories.
Low fat milk. We used 1% low fat milk to make this cheesecake dip. NOTE: the pudding mix will not set with non-dairy milk per the Jell-O website.
No sugar added Cherry Pie Filling. This is a classic topping on cheesecake and our version is no different. Except we used sugar free cherry pie filling. We used Comstock but there are multiple brand options and any work.
How to make it
STEP 1. Blend the cottage cheese
The first step is to blend the cottage cheese into a smooth consistency (photo 1) in your blender. Depending on the size of your blender pitcher and strength of your blender this may need to be done in batches then combined at the end.
If in doubt start with half the container, remove the blended cottage cheese and blend the second half. Leave the first half out until the other ingredients are blended.
STEP 2. Blend the remaining ingredients
Add the sugar free cheesecake pudding mix (photo 2) and the milk (photo 3) to the blender pitcher with the smooth cottage cheese. Gently stir in; then close the lid and blend to fully combine.
NOTE: if the cottage cheese was blended in batches, return any blended cottage cheese back into the blender. Blend to combine all the ingredients.
STEP 3. Chill
Transfer the cheesecake mixture into a serving dish (cover with plastic wrap) or sealed container with lid (photo 4). Allow to chill for 1 hour.
STEP 4. Add cherry pie filling
Spoon ½ cup of the no sugar added cherry pie filling on top of the cheesecake dip. Place back in the refrigerator to chill 15 additional minutes. Serve chilled.
