Recipe Ingredients Notes
Green Grapes. Start with 30 rinsed grapes patted dry with paper towels. Choose oval-shaped unblemished grapes. These will be the Grinch's face.
Bananas. You'll need 30 banana slices; approximately two small-medium bananas sliced. These make the brim of his hat. Choose fully ripe but firm bananas without any bruising or black spots.
Strawberries. The strawberries make the Grinch's hat. You'll need 30. Choose rips unblemished berries. Strawberries that are smaller and with a distinct pointed end work best for these themed treats.
Mini marshmallows. These are the white tuft on the Santa hat. You'll need 30!
Toothpicks. A toothpick inserted through the ingredients holds them all together. You'll need 30.
How to make it
STEP 1. Prepare the fruit
Cut across the very top of the stem end of each grape to create a flat surface. Also cut across the stem end of each strawberry to remove the greenery and create a flat surface (see below).
STEP 2. Assemble
Insert a toothpick into the top of a grape (the sliced end) (photo 1). Slide a banana slice on top of the grape (photo 2). Slide a strawberry onto the toothpick next, flat/sliced side down (facing the banana slice) (photo 3). Last put the mini marshmallow on the end of the toothpick (photo 4).
Variation
Instead of a toothpick you can thread the ingredients onto the end of a bamboo skewer for a fruit kabob!
Making them Ahead
The tricky part of making these Grinch treats ahead of time is not having the banana slices brown. If you are unable to make them just before serving, toss the banana slices in lemon juice to slow the oxidation process that turns the banana brown once they are cut.
Storing Leftovers
If you have leftover Grinch snacks you can store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Once cut both the banana slices and strawberries don't store well.
