- 1.5 cups fresh ripe mango peeled and cut into chunks
- 3 ounces silve or blanco tequila
- 1.5 ounces freshly squeezed lime juice
- .75 ounce agave nectar
- ice
Optional: salt the rim of an old fashioned glass if desired.
Put the mango into the cocktail shaker and muddle.
Add the tequila, lime juice and agave nectar along with a handful of ice. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 15 seconds.
Strain into two glasses filled with fresh ice. Garnish with a lime wedge or lime wheel.
Use ripe mangoes or they will not add much flavor to the margarita.
Taste the margarita before straining and add another ¼ ounce of agave nectar if it isn't sweet enough.
If the mangoes are really ripe and muddling turns into a puree it may be necessary to pass through a fine mesh sieve. Press on the pulpy mango to squeeze out the liquid cocktail ingredients.
