Air Fryer Shrimp

These Air Fryer Shrimp are juicy and tender with light garlic, butter, lemon, fresh thyme flavor. They are perfect as a main dish, appetizer or in other dishes.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound jumbo-size shrimp peeled and deveined
  • olive oil spray
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter melted
  • ½ lemon juiced
  • 2 garlic cloves peeled and grated
  • 1 ½ teaspoon fresh thyme minced

Instructions

  • Pat the shrimp dry with a paper towels to remove any excess moisture.
  • Place the shrimp in a large bowl. Spritz with olive oil spray and toss to coat. Lightly salt and pepper the shrimp and toss to coat with the seasonings.
  • Place the shrimp in a single layer and air fry at 400F for 5 minutes.
  • While the shrimp cook, whisk together the melted butter, lemon juice, grated garlic, and minced thyme.
  • When the air fryer has finished, brush each shrimp with garlic butter and air fry at 400F for another 1-2 minutes, or until the shrimp are opaque, white or light pink and no longer limp to the touch.

Notes

Air Fryer variations. Each brand of air fryer cooks slightly differently based on their size and wattage. Always monitor food for doneness and adjust cooking time as needed. If using an air fryer with a smaller basket it may be necessary to cook in batches.
Do not preheat the air fryer. Shrimp cook very quickly and preheating the air fryer can lead to cooking too fast and drying the shrimp out. 
Do not use small shrimp. We use jumbo shrimp for this recipe and the cooking time is based on that. You can use large size shrimp and shorten the cooking time. We do not recommend using any shrimp smaller than large size.
How to Store
The cooked leftover shrimp can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
