Instant Pot Applesauce (unsweetened)

Delicious homemade unsweetened applesauce is so easy in the Instant Pot! It's a healthy snack or ingredient to add to other recipes. Slow cooker option included in the Notes too.

Ingredients

  • 8 medium-large apples peeled, cored and cut into ⅛'s
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1 ½ teaspoons lemon juice preferably freshly squeezed
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • Place all ingredients in the Instant Pot: apple slices, water, lemon juice and ground cinnamon.
  • Seal the lid, turn pressure valve to SEAL and cook on high pressure for 9 minutes. Follow cooking cycle with a quick release and remove the lid.
  • For smooth applesauce: use an immersion blender or puree in batches in a conventional blender.
  • For chunkier applesauce: use a potato masher until desired consistency is achieved.

Notes

Recipe Time
Time for Instant Pot to come to pressure not included in total time. Estimate 15 minutes.
Slow Cooker option
Add all ingredients and cook on HIGH heat for 4 hours. Process the applesauce with an immersion blender or potato masher as described above.
How to store
Store in a sealed jar or airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 10 days.
Freezing it: Allow it to cool completely. Place in freezer-proof containers or bags squeezing out as much air as possible.
Freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator. You can freeze smaller amounts in an ice cube tray too!
