- ½ cup popcorn kernels
- 2 tablespoons refined coconut oil
Set the Instant Pot to SAUTE mode and to 'more' temperature setting (see notes below). When the display reads 'hot' add the coconut oil and allow it to melt.
Add the popcorn kernels and stir to coat with the oil. Spread into a single layer and secure the glass lid on top.
The popcorn will begin to pop within a few minutes. Allow it to pop until is slows and few kernels are popping (5-6 minutes after heating the Instant Pot).Unplug the Instant Pot and allow it to sit for 1-2 additional minutes with the lid on for any remaining kernels to pop (they will still pop with the heat off). Removed the popped popcorn from the inner pot and serve (or season and serve). Discard any unpopped kernels.
How to set to MORE temperature setting
To change it with new models you should be able to press the SAUTE button to change the setting between low medium and more.
With older models immediately after selecting SAUTE, select ADJUST button and change to 'more'. This has to be done within 10 seconds of selecting the SAUTE setting.
Pro Tips
- Use fresh popcorn kernels and oil (not past their listed expiration date)
- Use refined coconut oil (our recommendation), ghee or a high smoke point oil like refined avocado oil
